Cadbury Nigeria Plc:
A Delectable Legacy of Delightful Indulgence

Cadbury Nigeria Plc, fondly known as Cadbury, is a household name synonymous with the finest in food, confections, and beverages. A beacon of culinary excellence, this esteemed brand is primarily nurtured by Mondelez International, a global powerhouse renowned for its captivating array of beloved brands that resonate with people worldwide.

A heritage brand, Cadbury's star products include the iconic Bournvita, a cherished elixir of vitality, and the timeless treats of Buttermint and more. The compelling tale of Cadbury's presence in Nigeria traces back to the 1950s, when its journey commenced by sourcing cocoa and importing bulk goods, repackaging them into tins that graced store shelves across the nation. Recognizing burgeoning opportunities, Cadbury strategically established its manufacturing footprint in January 1965, a move that would forever alter the culinary landscape of the country.

The company's evolution into a publicly traded entity took shape in 1976, a pivotal juncture marked by Cadbury Schweppes divesting 20% of its stake. An embodiment of foresight and self-reliance, Cadbury's visionary approach led to the creation of a robust supply chain that included the establishment of a sorghum conversion plant and the birth of Stanmark Industries in Ondo, a monumental cocoa processing enterprise. The invaluable output of Stanmark, in the form of raw materials, notably fuels Cadbury's iconic Bournvita, and serves as a conduit for foreign exchange through the exportation of cocoa products.

Cadbury Bournvita, a cherished cash cow and the company's flagship creation, originally embarked on its Nigerian journey as an imported treasure, painstakingly repackaged on local soil at the iconic Agidingbi site in Ikeja, Lagos. A remarkable milestone materialized in 1965 when Bournvita transitioned from an import to a locally manufactured marvel, etching its name in history as the pioneer Food Drink of Nigeria.

While Cadbury Nigeria and its portfolio proudly bear the Mondelēz International hallmark, a significant portion of its legacy (25.01%) is owned by indigenous stakeholders, trading proudly on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

As we relish each delectable Cadbury creation, we partake in a legacy that transcends time, embodying the essence of quality, heritage, and the boundless joy of indulgence.
