Doubts over whether or not the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, will deliver on his promise of a higher institution to the people of Iseyin and Oke-Ogun was laid to permanent rest as activities officially kicked off at the Iseyin Campus of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, earlier today.

The Governor had led dignitaries including former President Olusegun Obasanjo among others to commission the Campus earlier on September 15, 2023.

Elated representatives of the people led by the Chairman of Iseyin Local Government Area, Hon. Mufutau Osuolale Abilawon, trooped to the Institution again today, to welcome Governing Council members, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, other principal officers, and workers of the University who had gone to officially commence operation.

Speaking this morning, at a well attended maiden town and gown meeting, Hon. Abilawon said his people have met and agreed to make staying in Iseyin peaceful and memorable for workers and students of LAUTECH.

He said they will remain eternally grateful to Governor Makinde who turned their long wait for a higher institution to reality.

In his own address at the meeting, Professor Kalilu promised that students and workers of LAUTECH would be good guests, respecting culture and traditions of their hosts, the Iseyin people.

According to him, offices have been allocated and work has commenced in line with the directive of Visitor to the University, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Dignitaries at the event included the Alado of Ado-Awaye, Oba (Rev'd) Ademola Olugbile Folakemi, Registrar of the University; Dr. Kayode Ogunleye, Bursar; Mr. Abayomi Okediji, and Librarian; Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Aboyade.
