Jigawa State in Northern Nigeria was created on 27 August 1991, excised from Kano State. It is bordered to the West by Kano State, to the East by Bauchi and Yobe States and to the North by Katsina and Yobe States and the Republic of Niger.
Jigawa State is nicknamed the New World and it is the largest producer of sesame in the country.
