Kano State created on 27 May 1967 and historically known as the Centre of Commerce in Nigeria. Strategically located at the center of Northern Nigeria, Kano has served as a major entry port to the nation and as the Southern hub of the trans-Saharan trade route for centuries. The capital, Kano City, acts as a regional trade hub servicing a market of over 300 million people located in Northern Nigeria, neighboring countries such as Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
