Nigerian Customs inspects Kishi Rice mill, satisfy with mode of operation

Kishi-rice2.jpeg

The Nigerian Customs have inspected Kishi Rice Mill in Irepo Local government owned by one of the town business mogul and industrialist, Alhaji Sikiru Lawal Masoroju.

After conducting an on-site inspection over the weekend, the Customs who are Operatives of the Border Drill Operations of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) were reported to be satisfied with the mode of operation.

Recall that in July, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo State, and his wife Chief (Mrs.) Ajibola Lawal visited the rice mill, which is regarded as the largest infrastructure firm in the Irepo local government.

Excited by the degree of progress, Lawal stated that he had come to check the project and emphasised that, by God's grace, the project which was about 90% completed, will hopefully be commissioned by the Oyo state government.

He said: "I've come here to inspect the project, and I'm going to inform His Excellency, Seyi Makinde about the project."

He commended the investor for the admirable idea and for thinking of his community in a project that will support the Oyo State Government's efforts to create jobs, calling the project as the first of its kind in the state.

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that the purpose of the Customs visit and inspections may not be far-fetched to know more about the warehouse as well as to authenticate its local production for easy transportation.

Since Nigeria banned the importation of foreign rice in 2018, Nigerian Customs has started conducting raids on warehouses and markets.

The Nigerian farmers have showed that they can produce rice to feed this nation even before the closure of border, when the government changed policy from continuous importation of rice to restriction.

The federal government's policy is to encourage Nigerians to consume domestic rice rather than importing it.
