Lagos State is located in the Southwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It was created on the 27 May 1967. Lagos State spans the Guinea coast of the Atlantic Ocean for over 180km, located to the Republic of Benin on the West and Ogun state on the East.

Lagos State nicknamed "Center of Excellence" and its largest economy in the country, 5th largest in Africa and the 7th fastest growing city in the World.

Court sentences killer Police officer to death over Bolanle Raheem's death

A Lagos State High Court, on Monday, sentenced Policeman, ASP Drambi Vandi, to death by hanging for killing Barrister Bolanle Raheem.

Mrs Raheem lost her life on Christmas Day last year when Vandi opened fire in the presence of her husband as they were returning from the church at a police checkpoint in Lagos.

The police officer who had been suspended was convicted for the murder of Omobolanle Raheem, a Lagos property lawyer, on Christmas Day.

The Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square found him guilty and was sentenced to death by hanging.

Lagos, the Centre of Excellence and aquatic splendour, has a significant opportunity in the blue economy, and I urge the executive and legislature to unite in driving growth to this vital sector.

Kudos to Mr. President Bola Tinubu, for establishing the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and the National Assembly for taking the right direction by setting up a proper committee to do oversight function in this very important national assignment.

I also extend my gratitude to the Senate Committee on Marine Transportation, led by Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, for visiting Lagos House, Marina today and recognizing Lagos as a core hub for the blue economy with 70% of its activities here.

The blue economy is transforming the indices of economic development and both the executive and legislature need to support this area such that our economic activities can be developed, supervised and monitored better.

Dr. Alausa met Governor Sanwo-olu at the Lagos House Marina

Today, I had the pleasure of receiving a courtesy visit from Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, at the Lagos House, Marina.

During our meeting, I extended my congratulations to Dr. Alausa on his well-deserved appointment by President Bola Tinubu. Being from Lagos State, I have full confidence in his ability to excel in his role as a member of the Federal Executive Council. I strongly believe that he will collaborate effectively with state governments and other ministers to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery across the country.

I assured Dr. Alausa of our readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government. We are eager to leverage his expertise and contribute to the well-being of our people. Our goal is to implement various measures that ensure healthcare is not only accessible but also affordable for everyone in Lagos State.
