Oyo State popularly referred to, as the "Pace Setter" came into existence with the breakup of the old Western State of Nigeria during the State creation exercise in 3 February 1976. It is bounded in the North by Kwara State, in the East by Osun State, in the South by Ogun State and in the West by Ogun State and the Republic of Benin.

The first University in Nigeria is the University of Ibadan (established as a college of the University of London when it was founded in 1948, and later converted into an Autonomous University in 1962).

BREAKING: Jubilation In Oyo State As Civil Servants, Pensioners Begins To Receive Welfare Package Alert As Promised By Gov Seyi Makinde

It was a massive jubilation in Oyo State as civil servants, pensioners received October welfare package alert promised by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

It was recall that Oyo State Government while addressed Oyo State workers and labour union leaders at the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde informed them that his administration had approved the payment of N15,000 to each pensioner on the State's payroll and N25,000 to each civil servant. The payment will commence from October 2023 for six months.
