The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has signed the 2026 budget into law.
The bill was signed on Monday at the Executive Council Chamber of the TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
Giving his assent to the 2026 Appropriation Bill passed by the State House of Assembly, Governor Agbu Kefas assured that the budget would be fully implemented. He said the budget aligns with his administration's commitment to delivering the required development across the state.
Governor Kefas also expressed appreciation to members of the State House of Assembly for their diligence and the timely consideration and passage of the appropriation bill.
Earlier, while presenting the budget, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, said the budget size had been increased by three billion naira.
He explained that the increase was to cater for the procurement of textbooks, ensure the smooth take-off of newly created ministries, and support the construction of the Taraba State Bio-Entrepreneurship Innovation and Solutions Agency, TASBISA.
According to the Speaker, each of the affected ministries and agencies received an allocation of one billion naira in the 2026 budget.
It will be recalled that Governor Agbu Kefas presented a budget estimate of over six hundred and fifty billion naira to the House on 19 November. The State House of Assembly later reviewed and increased the figure to over six hundred and fifty-three billion naira before its passage.
